How QR Pantry works
Label once. Keep the details up to date.
1
Stick on a label.
Choose a jar, or a fridge or freezer container. Apply the label to a clean, dry surface – it’s ready to stay there through plenty of refills.

2
Scan and save.
Scan with your phone, add what’s inside and save the dates that matter. AI and scanning features help fill in the details for you to check.

3
Use it. Then reuse it.
Check the app or scan the label when you need it. Finished the food? Mark it used up, wash the container and save something new to the same label.

Less to type. Less to remember.
Let the app help with the details.
Opened on Monday. Cooked on Tuesday. Frozen for another night. QR Pantry gives each date its own place and helps you capture the details while you’re putting food away.
Capture
Photograph the date.
Take a photo of a printed expiry date and let QR Pantry read it for you. Review the result and save it with the food.
Suggest
Get a date suggestion.
AI can suggest an expiry date based on the food and where it’s stored. Move it from fridge to freezer and update the location in the app; the suggested date adjusts too.
Remember
Keep the whole timeline.
Save expiry, cooked, opened and frozen dates separately. Add reheating instructions or other notes so the useful details stay together.
Cooking several portions? Pro lets you add a whole batch to your labels at once, and includes more AI uses. Compare Free and Pro.
From remembering to dinner
Dinner might already be in your freezer.
The soup you made extra of. A meal saved for a busy night. The jar you’d forgotten was open. Seeing what needs using makes it easier to choose what to eat – and put more of your food to good use.
A reminder before the date.
Free push reminders bring food back to your attention before its saved expiry date. Pro adds email reminders, giving you another way to keep track.
An idea for what to cook.
Meal Rescue suggests recipes around food closest to its date. Useful when the ingredients are there, but inspiration isn’t. Free accounts include one Meal Rescue a month.

A few useful answers
Smart expiry label FAQs.
What is a smart expiry label?
It’s a reusable QR Pantry label linked to a food record in the app. Scan it to see what you’ve saved: the food name, dates, location and any notes. The expiry date appears in the app. When the contents change, update the record and use the same label again.
Do I need a paid subscription?
No. The labels work with a free QR Pantry account, including food tracking, dates and push reminders. Pro is optional and adds more AI uses, bulk adding, email reminders and other features. The comparison above shows what each plan includes.
Do I have to download an app?
You can use QR Pantry in your phone’s browser with a free account, or download the iPhone or Android app. Sign in to access the food details you’ve saved. Enable notifications to receive push reminders.
Can QR Pantry read an expiry date for me?
Yes. It can read a printed expiry date from a photograph. It can also extract dates from supported 2D product barcodes when that information is encoded. Check the captured details before saving; AI allowances and other features depend on your plan.
What if there isn’t a printed date?
For food such as home-cooked meals, AI can suggest an expiry date based on the food and where it’s stored. Review or edit the suggestion and record cooked, opened or frozen dates in their separate fields. Changing the storage location in the app also updates the suggested date. Suggestions are guidance, so take account of how the food has been handled and stored.
Can I see my food without scanning every container?
Yes. Open the app to browse the food you’ve added and check what needs using. Scanning a label is a shortcut to that particular container’s record – handy when you’re standing at the fridge or freezer.
Can the labels go through the dishwasher?
Yes. Smart Pantry, Fridge & Freezer Labels are dishwasher, microwave and freezer safe, and designed to stay on reusable containers. When the food is finished, mark it used up and reuse the label. Apply labels to clean, dry surfaces before freezing. Freezer bags use a different, purpose-made label.
How much is shipping?
Shipping is free within Australia. Orders are printed, packed and dispatched from Victoria within three business days. International shipping is calculated at checkout.
