About QR Pantry

Start here if you are new to QR Pantry or want to understand how the labels and app work together.

What is QR Pantry?

QR Pantry is a smart food storage system: reusable QR Pantry labels for your containers plus a free app that remembers what each label is attached to. Stick a label on a container, scan it with your phone, and save what is inside, where it lives, when it expires, plus notes, cooking instructions and a shopping list.

How does QR Pantry work?

Stick a QR Pantry label on a container, jar or storage box, then scan the QR code with your phone. The first scan links the label to a new item; every later scan opens the saved details so you can view, update or clear them when the contents change.

What can I use QR Pantry for?

QR Pantry works for leftovers, freezer meals, meal prep, pantry jars, dry goods, opened packets, bulk cooking, storage boxes and any household container where you want to remember what is inside and when to use it.

Do I need to create an account?

Yes. A free QR Pantry account stores your labels, items, spaces and storage details, and lets you sign in on more than one device. To create one or sign in, go to the sign-in page and enter your email. We'll send you a code.

I bought labels. How do I sign in?

Enter the email you used at checkout on the sign-in page and we'll send you a code. Your account was set up under that email when you ordered.

Do you have a partner program?

Yes. The QR Pantry Partner Program is for people in Australia who post about real kitchens, from home organisation and meal prep to family life. Partners earn 15% to 20% of the label orders their code brings in, and 10% of what new QR Pantry Pro subscribers pay in their first year. Their audience gets 10% off. You can read how it works and apply on the partner program page.

Labels

QR Pantry labels

Information about using, reusing and caring for your smart labels.

How many labels come in a pack?

Each Smart Pantry, Fridge and Freezer Labels pack contains 126 matte white labels, each with its own unique QR code. That works out to about 24 cents a label. The Smart Freezer Bag and Meal Prep Labels pack also holds 126 labels, about 16 cents each.

How big are the labels?

QR Pantry smart labels are 2 x 2cm matte white squares, small enough to sit cleanly on a spice jar and still scan reliably.

Can I reuse QR Pantry labels?

Yes, the Smart Pantry, Fridge and Freezer Labels are designed to be reused. When the food is finished, scan the QR code and update or clear the saved details, then use the same label for the next item. The label stays on the container; only the digital record changes.

The Smart Freezer Bag and Meal Prep Labels are the exception. They are made to grip freezer bags, zip bags and vac-sealed bags, and they are not recommended for reuse. When the bag is empty, tap Used up and the item is off your list, with nothing to clear and no empty container to keep track of.

Can I print my own QR codes to use with QR Pantry?

No. QR Pantry works with official QR Pantry codes only; third-party or self-printed QR codes will not provide label functionality. This protects account security, label uniqueness and the integrity of the system. If you would like to try printable labels first, the free official Print-at-Home Test Pack is made for exactly that.

What does "label series" mean?

Our labels no longer come in series. Every pack of Smart Pantry, Fridge and Freezer Labels or Smart Storage Labels has its own QR codes, so you can order as many as you like, and the numbers carry on from the labels you already have, including any Series packs you bought before.

What is the best way to apply my labels?

Apply labels to a clean, dry surface. Wipe the container first to remove dust, crumbs, grease or moisture. Position the label before pressing it down, then press firmly for around 20 seconds. Avoid rubbing across the label surface; use firm pressure instead.

Are QR Pantry labels dishwasher safe?

Yes, on hard plastic and glass containers. QR Pantry Smart Pantry, Fridge and Freezer Labels are dishwasher safe in the top drawer using a normal cycle up to 60°C. Avoid the cutlery drawer, where the closer spray can reduce the quality of the printed finish. For best results, make sure the label is firmly applied to a clean, dry surface before washing.

Not on silicone. Silicone is made to be non-stick, which is why the backing paper a label peels off is coated with it, so a label will not hold on a silicone container through a dishwasher cycle. Labels work well on silicone in the freezer, just not in the dishwasher. Custom and personalised labels should be hand-washed to protect the printed finish.

Not the freezer bag labels. The Smart Freezer Bag and Meal Prep Labels are made for bags, not for containers that go through a dishwasher, and a cycle will lift them.

Are QR Pantry labels microwave safe?

QR Pantry labels are suitable for normal reheating in a domestic microwave when applied to the outside of a microwave-safe container. The label material is rated to 100°C, which covers normal reheating; grill, convection and combination settings go beyond that, which is why they are not suitable. Labels are not intended for direct contact with food or for prolonged high-temperature cooking. Stop using a label in the microwave if it becomes damaged, distorted, blistered, significantly discoloured, develops an unusual odour or begins to detach.

The Smart Freezer Bag and Meal Prep Labels are not microwave safe. Take the food out of the bag to reheat it, which is what the packaging wants anyway.

Are QR Pantry labels freezer safe?

Yes, both lines. The Smart Pantry, Fridge and Freezer Labels are rated for use down to −20°C, which covers a normal domestic freezer. The Smart Freezer Bag and Meal Prep Labels are made for exactly this: their adhesive holds on freezer bags, zip bags and film, which the reusable label was never designed for. Apply either kind at room temperature to a clean, dry surface before freezing, rather than to a bag or container that is already frozen. Adhesive does not bond well to a cold surface, so a label pressed onto frozen packaging may not hold. On a bag, put the label straight onto the plain plastic, away from any printing or write-on panel.

How do I make my labels last longer?

Apply labels to a clean, dry surface and press firmly when applying; on a bag, choose plain plastic rather than a printed or write-on panel. Avoid scrubbing directly across the printed surface. On hard plastic and glass, Smart Pantry, Fridge and Freezer Labels can be washed in the top drawer of the dishwasher using a normal cycle up to 60°C; avoid the cutlery drawer, where the closer spray can reduce the quality of the printed finish, and hand-wash silicone containers instead. Custom and personalised labels should be hand-washed.

Do the labels work with containers I already own?

Yes. QR Pantry labels are designed for the jars, containers, freezer bags, meal prep boxes and storage containers you already use. No special containers are required.

Custom labels

Custom spice and pantry labels

Labels printed with your names, a QR code on every one: styles, sets, care and delivery.

What are custom spice, pantry and storage labels?

Printed labels with your own names on them, and a unique QR Pantry code on every label. You type the names, pick a style, and we print the sheet to order. Custom Spice Labels come as a sheet of 36 (31 × 45 mm) for spice and herb jars; Custom Pantry Labels come as a pack of 24 (70 × 70 mm) for canisters and pantry jars; Custom Storage Labels come as a pack of 24 (70 × 70 mm) for storage boxes. All three are matte white synthetic labels, resistant to oil and water.

How do custom labels work with the app?

Stick the label on the jar and scan it with your phone. The jar lands in your QR Pantry with its name already filled in, so all you add is the best-before date, and the free app reminds you before it is due. From then on a scan shows what is in the jar, when it needs using and whether it is on your shopping list. Any label you leave blank prints as a plain QR Pantry label you can name in the app. A custom storage label works the same way for a box: scan it and the new box opens with its name filled in, ready for you to list what is inside.

Should I get custom labels or the smart square labels?

Both scan into the same free app. Custom labels carry a printed name, so they suit the jars that always hold the same thing: spices, flour, rice, pasta, oats, coffee. Smart Pantry, Fridge and Freezer Labels are blank 2 × 2 cm squares, 126 to a pack, for the food that changes: leftovers, meal prep, freezer bags and opened packets, washed and reused as the contents change. Most kitchens end up with both.

Which styles, sizes and quantities can I choose?

Four styles, the same four on every line: Capri and Paris (clean capitals), Monte Carlo (a classic serif) and Saint Tropez (a script). Spice labels are a sheet of 36 at 31 × 45 mm; pantry and storage labels are each a pack of 24 at 70 × 70 mm. Each sheet or pack is $29.95 with free shipping in Australia. Every label can carry a small number and a subtitle line, and both are optional.

Do I have to type every name myself?

No. Each line has six starter sets, such as Everyday kitchen, Baking, Indian kitchen or Herbs and blends for spices, Baking, Everyday pantry or Grains and pasta for the pantry, and Around the home, Moving house or Garage and shed for storage boxes. Pick a set and change any label you like, or start from a blank sheet and add names from the list or type your own. Names can be up to 24 characters.

Do I need QR Pantry Pro for custom labels?

No. The printed name arrives on the first scan for everyone, and expiry dates, push reminders, notes and the shopping list are all part of the free app. Pro adds things like reading the date off the back of a pack from a photo and filling a label from a barcode, and none of that is needed to use a custom label.

Are custom labels waterproof and dishwasher safe?

They are printed on matte white synthetic stock that resists oil and water, so a wipe with a damp cloth is fine. Hand-wash jars that carry a custom label rather than putting them through the dishwasher, to protect the printed finish. Apply to a clean, dry surface and press firmly.

How long do custom labels take to arrive?

Custom sheets are printed to order and dispatched within 3 business days, then delivered by Australia Post, which can take up to 7 business days. Shipping is free within Australia. Each order is one sheet or pack per design; design another for a second order.

What if I made a mistake on my custom labels?

Once custom labels have been printed we cannot refund customer-supplied mistakes, but mistakes happen, so we may be able to offer a discount on a corrected reorder. Get in touch and we will do our best to help.

App & setup

Using the QR Pantry app

Setup and app questions for phones, scanning, accounts and saved items.

Download on the App StoreGet it on Google Play

Do I need to install an app?

No. QR Pantry runs in your phone's browser, so you can scan and go with nothing to install. An Android app is available on Google Play, and an iPhone app on the App Store.

Which phones does QR Pantry support?

QR Pantry works on most modern iPhone and Android phones that can scan QR codes with the camera. For the best experience use an up-to-date browser.

How do I add an item?

Scan a QR Pantry label with your phone. If the label is not yet linked, QR Pantry lets you create a new item or space on the spot; if it is already linked, the saved details open so you can view or edit them. For full setup steps, see the setup guide.

Can I use QR Pantry on more than one device?

Yes. Sign in to the same QR Pantry account on each device and your labels, items and spaces stay in sync.

Can I use QR Pantry without QR Pantry labels?

Yes, up to a point. Scan a packaged product's barcode or add an item by hand and the free app tracks it without a label, with a photo, a date and push reminders; the free plan keeps up to 20 unlabelled items at a time and QR Pantry Pro raises that limit. Labelled containers are unlimited, and the labels are what make the rest work: leftovers and meal prep with no barcode, reusing a container for the next thing, and knowing what is in a storage box without opening it.

Does QR Pantry include recipes and meal planning?

Yes. The free app includes a recipe book for 10 recipes, imported from a link or a photo or typed in, with a pantry match that shows which ingredients you already have and a cook mode that ticks them off as you go, plus a meal planner for this week: pick meals from your recipe book, drag them onto days and cook from the plan. QR Pantry Pro stores 1,000 recipes, plans weeks ahead with repeats, fills the week for you with Plan my week, and builds one shopping list for everything the week's meals need.

What is Meal Rescue?

Meal Rescue suggests recipes built around the food in your pantry that is closest to its date, so it gets eaten instead of thrown out. Each suggestion is a full recipe you can save to your recipe book. Free accounts get one Meal Rescue a month; QR Pantry Pro draws on its monthly AI allowance.

Do QR Pantry labels work without internet?

No. Scanning a label opens the saved details from your QR Pantry account, so your phone needs an internet connection. Standard mobile data is all it takes; there is nothing heavy to load.

Pro is optional and adds email reminders, AI photo recognition, receipt scanning, automatic barcode fill, one-tap store links, bulk adding, more food and storage images, meal planning weeks ahead, and exports.

What is included in QR Pantry Pro?

What is the difference between Free and Pro?

Free covers the core system: scan labels, save items with a photo, track expiry dates with push reminders, scan product barcodes, add notes, keep a recipe book and plan this week's meals from it. Pro is for households that want automation: it fills in items for you with photo recognition and automatic barcode fill, plans weeks ahead and shops the week in one list, and adds bulk tools, email reminders, more images, and exports.

Does QR Pantry Pro include a free trial?

Yes. Monthly and annual Pro subscriptions start with a 30-day free trial, and you will not be charged if you cancel during the trial.

The Lifetime licence is a one-off purchase charged immediately; it has no trial but is covered by the 30-day money-back guarantee under our Returns and Refunds policy.

How do I cancel QR Pantry Pro?

Sign in to My Account and open the subscriptions section; you can cancel at any time. Cancel during the free trial and you will not be charged. Cancel after a payment and Pro keeps working until the end of the current billing period.

Are QR Pantry Pro payments refundable?

Recurring subscription payments are generally non-refundable once charged. The Lifetime licence is covered by the 30-day money-back guarantee.

What does lifetime licence mean?

A lifetime licence is a single payment that gives you 10 years of QR Pantry Pro with no recurring charges, for as long as the QR Pantry Pro service continues to operate. It is covered by the 30-day money-back guarantee, and QR Pantry may change or discontinue the lifetime option for new purchases in the future. See the terms and conditions for the full details.

What happens to my saved items if I cancel Pro?

Nothing is deleted. Your account, labels and saved items keep working on the free plan; only the Pro features stop. You can resubscribe at any time and pick up where you left off.

Do the labels stop working if I do not subscribe?

No. The labels work with the free QR Pantry app indefinitely; there is no subscription requirement. QR Pantry Pro is an optional upgrade, not a condition of use.

Troubleshooting

Technical help

Quick fixes for login loops, scanner permissions, pages not loading and app issues.

Why does QR Pantry keep asking me to sign in?

It usually means an old sign-in is stuck on your device. On the sign-in page, tap Trouble signing in? and then Reset sign-in on this device, then sign in again.

A page did not load correctly or the save button is not working. What should I do?

First, refresh the page. On most phones, you can drag down from the top of the screen to reload. If that does not work, close and reopen the app or browser, then try again.

Why do I get a camera permission error when using the scanner?

This usually means your browser has blocked camera access. On iPhone Safari, tap the aA button in the address bar, open Website Settings and allow Camera access. On Android, tap the icon beside the address bar, open Permissions and allow Camera access.

The scanner will not load. What should I check?

Check that camera permission is allowed, pop-up blockers are not interfering, and your browser is up to date. If the issue continues, clear your browser cache and reopen QR Pantry.

The app stopped working. How do I fix it?

Try refreshing the page, closing and reopening the app, clearing your browser cache, or deleting the home screen shortcut and reinstalling it using the setup instructions.

How do I clear my cache on iPhone Safari?

Open iPhone Settings, tap Safari, then tap Clear History and Website Data. After clearing, reopen QR Pantry and sign in again if needed.

How do I clear my cache in Chrome?

Open Chrome, tap the three dots menu, choose History, then Clear browsing data. Select the time range and clear cached files. Then reopen QR Pantry.
